THE CAFÉ AT SEASONED IN SEATTLE
RVCDF helped Seasoned in Seattle expand its successful catering business to include a café with outdoor patio.
With nearly two decades in business, south Seattle-based catering company Seasoned in Seattle has successfully catered thousands of special events, including some of the city’s finest weddings.
From office parties and corporate functions to wedding receptions and other life celebrations, its menus always include the freshest available local and sustainable ingredients, and the Seasoned in Seattle event team is well-known for delivering delicious meals and excellent service.
But owners Nora and Doug McDonald had found that some of the space in their location wasn’t well-utilized, and they were also looking for a way to offset the slow times of the catering business, so they decided to convert one end of the building that houses their catering kitchen into a café with outdoor seating area.
“We wanted to provide another option to get a good cup of coffee and scratch-made food in the neighborhood and to provide a local hangout for the community,” said Nora.
Financing from RVCDF helped them purchase new equipment and transform the space, allowing them to open sooner than they would have without the assistance. They also created four new jobs, two full-time and two part-time positions.
The Seasoned in Seattle café offers espresso drinks and other beverages, breakfast, in-house baked goods, freshly made soups, salads and sandwiches, as well as rotating and seasonal menu items.
“We have a contemporary flair and vibe,” says Nora. “And our menu items are scratch-made and locally sourced when available.”
They plan to add delivery service in the immediate future, and maybe even a food truck in the long-term.
Nora heard about RVCDF through the Rainier Chamber of Commerce.
“Program Manager Natalie Hester was great,” said Nora. “She was very personable and easy to work with.”
